Week 6

This morning was a bit of a shock.  I weigh myself every day and put it into MyFitnessPal, but I only really count my Sunday weigh in as it's my official weigh in day.  For some reason it's also almost always my lightest day of the week.  This morning for the first time in a long time I crossed into the 230's!  I was so excited I called InfiknitGirl in to see it.  Food continues to be going well.  Steps are down this week with an average of 6100 a day.  This is mostly because my exercise this week has mostly been doing demolition work, lifting weights, and riding a stationary bike.  This results in a lot less steps than walking and climbing stairs like I was doing in the beginning.
I've also changed my end goal.  I started wanting to get thin so that I can go into 40 trimmer than I was at any point in my 30's.  As I've lost weight I've noticed that my body is building a lot more muscle than I expected.  I'm so much stronger than I was when I started this.  I'm going to roll with this.  I'm going to lift weights 4 times a week in my basement.  I don't know if this will add bulk and slow the weight loss but I definitely feel better when I'm stronger.  I've also noticed that InfiknitGirl seems to like this plan as well.

This weeks thin-spiration is my changed goal from thin to strong and fit.  I thought this picture of Adam Levine was perfect.  If I get to his level I might even get some ink.  Although I'm sure I'd pick a tattoo that's way geekier than anything he has.

Week 5

Feeling Good!  Down three lbs this week!!!  46,700 steps for the week, averaging 6,700 or so a day.  This weekend I spent two long days doing demolition work on my in-laws kitchen.  It felt great to work hard that long.  I burned a LOT of calories.  I moved so much that MyFitnessPal awarded me 3000 extra calories each day.  I have a lot of projects I need to do.  Now that it's warmer I'm looking forward to doing them and losing weight in the process.  Here's what 11 lbs looks like.

Week 4

It happened.  I knew it would.  I posted about it last week.  It's still hard to take.  I didn't lose any weight, in fact I went up a pound.  I know this is how it works.  I always flatten out or gain a little a few weeks in.  I did good on food this week and have kept my daily average of steps well above my new goal of  6500 a day.  I also doubled my exercise one day and ended up doing 40 flights of stairs and totalled 6.2 miles walking that day.  Not much else to report this week.  I hope next week I can report that I'm losing weight again.  Gotta keep a running average of 2 lbs a week if I'm going to make my goal weight by October.

Identity Crisis

Today I reached my first milestone, 10 lbs lost.  I'm not going to update the stats in the side bar until my official weigh in and blog update on Sunday.  Driving to work I started thinking about future milestones.  I realized that if I stay on track and continue to hit my goal of averaging 2 lbs per week, I'll be at or below 185 in October.  This caused a strange identity crisis.  Not on a personal level, I've been a wide range of weights as an adult and I'm the same asshole at any of them.

I may however, have to rethink Back to The Future Day. InfiknitGirl and I are having a costume party the weekend after the day that Doc and Marty travel to in 2015.

I had previously decided to dress as the alternate 1985 version of Biff.  This is by far the best and most evil version of Biff in the franchise.

InfiknitGirl was planning on going as Lorraine, alternate Biff's busty and beaten down wife.  It's a great costume combination for a couple.

Part of the reason I chose Biff is because there's nothing awesome about a really chubby Marty Mcfly.

Now I realize that I might not be really chubby in October!  Do I want to change to Marty now?  It's a great costume.  What would this mean for InfiknitGirl?  It would ruin the couples coordination if I was vest wearing Marty and she was alternate 1985 Lorraine?

We could make a slight modification and have her dress up as 1955 Loraine.  It would give her a lot of great lines she could use.  It would also allow it to still be a coordinated couples costume in a sick and twisted way that Back to the Future was somehow able to pull off.

Week 3

Ok, so today is the last day of week three.  I know 4 lbs a week is not sustainable or healthy over a long period.  My weekly goal is 2 lbs a week.  I expected and got a big drop at the start.  I expected a week or two flat with no loss, or even a slight gain back.  Logically I know this is how it happens.  That being said I'm still a bit disappointed that I only lost a pound this week.  Having said all that, I have seen a lot of changes besides the scale.  I'm fine now eating less calories.  I'm hungry much less often.  I'm satisfied with my portion sizes.  I'm looking forward to my walks at work.  I can also see and feel the changes.  My pants have gone from tight to baggy.  My belly is smaller, and my shirts fit better.  I can also feel the muscles in my core are much stronger.  Hopefully I won't plateau or gain next week.  I need the scale to drop to stay motivated!  I averaged 5600 steps a day which is good considering a I had 2 days under 3000.

This weeks thin-spiration is my friend commonly known as The Rich Bitch.  She recently had a baby and shed the baby weight so fast it looked like magic.  In reality I know it was from hard work, sacrifice, and lots of exercise.  She posts her running route on facebook a few times a week and it always reminds me how hard she's worked and continues to work to get in shape.  We might have to change her name to The Skinny Bitch this summer!

Fun with Excel

Nothing to report right now.  I just wanted to post my Excel chart I made to track my progress.  This will flatten out to closer to the goal when I have a flat week or two.

Week 2

Second week is done.  4 More pounds lost.  I'm getting used to eating less and I've been hungry a lot less.  After averaging 3500 steps a day I've tried to move a lot more.  I have a set routine at work.  I do a lap through the 2 connected buildings at my work, down 4 floors using the stairs, a lap around the first floor, and back up 4 more flights of stairs.  I try to do this 5 to 7 times a day.  It seems to be working.  I can really feel it in my stomach and thighs.  Unfortunately I can also really feel it in my bad knee.  I've been really happy to have the weekend where I'm not doing that!  My average steps for the week went from 3500 to 5100 with a high one day of 9000.  I'm going to do another week like this, then the next week I'm adding strength training.   I know that I won't keep losing 4 lbs a week.  I will likely have a week or two on no loss before I start dropping again.  I have to keep reminding myself this so it doesn't discourage me when it happens.
